4hire is a leading vehicle, plant, tool, and equipment rental company, with the ability to supply and support the full range of the latest power tools, plant, and powered access equipment to meet our business and customers' needs for service, stability and safety.
As a part of our workshop team, you will be expected to carry out the servicing and maintenance of a variety of vehicles & hire equipment. (i.e. HGV’s, Articulated lorry, Vans, Cars, Minibuses, Powered Access, Generators, Tools & Plant Equipment) This position requires a significant amount of customer interaction, as well as possessing the technical acumen, you will also have the ability to provide a strong level of customer service when required.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Fault-finding, servicing, maintaining, and repairing of a wide range of vehicles/plant and powered access equipment within the workshop and on-site.
- Recognise and report vehicle/component defects or symptoms of impending failure.
- Perform Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) of new vehicles, plant, and equipment.
- Set up and operate equipment following manufacturers guidelines and/or procedures.
- Carry out precision measuring/testing of equipment following clear set procedures.
- Provide standard guidance and advice to junior colleagues through on-the-job training.
- Maintain accurate records of works undertaken including job sheets and timesheets and other required documentation. (You will be required to complete all relevant paperwork in line with company equipment checks and procedures, which most will be computer based).
- Help maintain cleanliness of vehicles and ensure general workshop tidiness.
- Ensure the general security of tools, plant, and equipment and of workshop areas.
- Carrying out any other duties which are appropriate to the post as may be reasonably requested by line manager.
- You will be required to be flexible to carry out tasks within other areas of the company as and when required.
- Be available and responsible for occasional emergency calls during and out of working hours for any work as instructed.
Applicants should have:
- Previous experience in mechanics (preferably heavy vehicle but not essential)
- A good understanding of electrical, petrol and diesel equipment
- An understanding of Hydraulic or Pneumatic systems Qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair i.e. City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3
- Full Driving licence (HGV/LGV licence would be an advantage)
- Computer literate Ability to work well under pressure
- Team player and ability to use own initiative
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Available for overtime when and as required
- Own set of tools
- Good understanding of relevant regulations and procedures including Health and Safety requirements
