Join the NatWest Island Games crew

The NatWest Island Games 2015 are recruiting a Games Crew

The NatWest Island Games Organising Committee are seeking volunteers to join their “Games Crew”. This specialist group of volunteers will help facilitate the Games infrastructure in the week leading up to the Games to get all equipment moved and operational ahead of the 3,000 athletes arriving to compete. They will also be on hand during Games Week to ensure the smooth running and setup of equipment required.

Steve Bailey, Games Director, explains “we are calling on help from Jersey locals, with experience and expertise across a range of relevant careers including construction, plumbing, engineering and logistics. These folk may not have considered their involvement with the Games before now. We would urge them to consider signing up for this crew and giving any time they can to help out.

We have 36 official sports venues, plus our Games Village at Howard Davis Park. An extraordinary effort has been taking place over the last year to get all the plans in place for each venue. Equipment has been agreed and ordered. We are now working on the logistics of how we get all of this kit working, where we need it. The 4hire, part of 4group have committed to the Games as a partner and we are working with them to shape the Crew which will boost their team.

The one thing that can’t be compromised is safety of both the competitors and spectators attending. Crowd barriers are a vital element of the safety infrastructure we are putting in place. Whilst they aren't heavy, putting these barriers together is time consuming, so we need a good team in place to support this effort.”

Mick Jehan, 4group Director, outlines the skills you need to join the team “you will need to be physically fit and able, hardworking and really dedicated to getting a job done. Enthusiasm, with a great sense of humour and enjoy working as part of a team. Ideally you will have your own transport, but this is not essential. Trade skills such as plumbing, engineering and construction will all be put to great use if you have these”

Please contact the Games Office on 449193 for further information on getting involved.
