WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?

This course is designed for Contractors working on a forecourt or the managers of forecourts, to give an understanding of the need for safe operation when performing any task on a petrol retail forecourt.

It will train the candidate to a level of competence to assess the hazards on the site, agree the control measures, discuss them with the forecourt manager and complete a “Clearance Certificate” before work commences so they can perform their tasks in a safe and efficient manner.

Overview

You will receive formal training and assessment in the safe working practices required when working on a petrol retail forecourt. Upon successful completion of the course you will be able to

  • Identify hazards on a petrol forecourt
  • Identify the different hazardous zones classified on a forecourt
  • Understand the documentation required to perform different tasks
  • Identify procedures that must be in place to control the hazards
  • Understand the requirement for site specific risk assessments
  • Have knowledge of safe working practices
  • How to control work on a forecourt through use of method statements
  • How to complete a “Clearance Certificate” and why it is necessary

This course meets the statutory requirements of the relevant legislation, statutory provisions and approved Codes of Practice whenever working on forecourts in the Channel Islands

TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical exercises. You will be assessed through theory and practical tests. 

Employers have a duty under the law to train and inform employees of hazards and products that can harm themselves or others who may be effected by their works.

There are many laws, acops and guidance that must be adhered to relating to work on forecourts, so this training plays a vital link to working safely and within the law.

As with all of our courses, we ask if the candidates can read and understand English. We can provide a translator for the entire course or just for the theory if necessary, but there is an extra charge and we need to know this at the booking stage.

QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATION

Upon successfully completing the course you will be awarded a 4safety certificate.
